Differences Between TPR, Light TPR, PVC, and Light PVC for Outsole

Choosing the right outsole material determines the comfort, durability, and production cost of a shoe or sandal. Here are the key differences between the four materials PT Soles Multi Idea (SMID) uses in outsole production.

TPR (Thermo Plastic Rubber)

TPR is a thermoplastic rubber material known for being flexible, offering good grip, and resisting abrasion. It is commonly used for everyday shoe outsoles and light sports shoes because it balances flexibility and durability.

Light TPR

Light TPR is a lighter-weight variant of TPR, suitable for products that prioritize long-wear comfort, such as sandals or children’s shoes, without sacrificing wear resistance.

PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride)

PVC is stiffer and water-resistant, often chosen for flip-flops and outsoles with a more solid structure. It is also relatively more economical for large-scale production.

Light PVC
